The Autumn Racing carnival is upon us and Day 1 of Championships starts this weekend.
Autumn racing sees longer hem lines and full skirt dresses options, and luxurious felts, fur or velvet are the fabric of choice from our Milliners for the Championships.
The Derby Day tradition of Black and White will be seeing this weekend at Royal Randwick’s top Marquees Little Sydney and Myer where fashions on the field will be judged by our top designers, milliners and Myer ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins, Kris Smith and Rachael Finch.
“The perfect outfit is what ever you are confident in,” says Hawkins. “Black and white is the dress code but I’m always up for a berry lip or accessory and statement felt or leather head piece to mix it up.”
Hawkins says she will be looking for sophistication, class and confidence on the field.
Meanwhile, the Official Milliner for Royal Randwick, Nerida Winter says autumn racing is all about “embracing the luxurious textures of felts, fur, leather and velvets.”
Exaggerated 70’s styles, masculine fedoras, boaters or playful headbands alongside winter blooms are inspiring looks of the season.
