And in May 2025, Deborra-Lee officially filed for divorce, with a source telling Daily Mail that, “A settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with, which includes a handsome spousal support payment.”

“There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but in the end, [Deborra] got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure.”

Just four weeks after Deborra filed, People reports that online court records from New York’s Suffolk County Supreme Court show that a “judgement of divorce” was filed on 12 June.

Hugh Jackman’s longtime friend, Australian TV and radio personality Gus Worland has spoken out about the split, saying it was “difficult” watching their marriage break down.

“No one wants anyone to go through what they’ve been through, and of course, they go through everything publicly because of the type of people [they are] and the fame they have,” he told Ben Fordham on 2GB radio.

“One thing I have been really strict on, I suppose, not just for me but a whole lot of mates who love them both, is to let [them] do what they’ve had to do. No one wants it.

“I was over in New York with Jacko just last month and he’s fine. He’s going along well. He’s moving on with his life, and I hope that Deb does as well.

“They were with each other for over 30 years, it’s a long, long time they were together, and they’ve got two beautiful kids together.”

Gus’ comments came after Deb shared her own personal statement, saying, “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.

She continued, “This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.

“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.”

Her statement ended with Deb sharing the “one thing” she has learned, which is “that none of this is personal,” adding, “we are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random.

“We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognise and heal the broken parts of ourselves…I remain grateful.”

The original announcement of their divorce came via a joint statement released to People Magazine, declaring it would be the only statement they would make on the matter.

“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” they said.

“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.

“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness first met on the set of the Australian television show Correlli in 1995, and were married a year later. They have two children together, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19, and celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in April 2023. The pair were last spotted together at the men’s finals at Wimbledon in July of that year.

The couple were on different pages when they split up and ET reported that a source revealed, “They felt like it was time to divorce, but they still maintain a happy and cordial friendship.”

“At the end of the day, it was their collective agreement to go their separate ways and do the healthiest thing for everyone involved.”
